November Bark Mushroom Field Trip
Field trip to identify and collect edible mushrooms. This is the full length monthly "Bark for Mt. Hood" program produced for Public Access television here in Portland Oregon.
This years mushroom field trip was to the No Whiskey Timber Sale, which Bark challenged, but unfortunately lost.
This area is also one of the 8 Off Highway Vehicle (OHV)area currently proposed by the Forest Service in Alternative 3. The Forest Service is also proposing Alternative 4, which has only three such areas, and doesn't include OHV trails in this area.,
Hike leader Mark Des Marets discusses the pervasiveness of fungi in the environment, both urban and rural. Attendees also learn about mushrooms, their collection, preparation and then fan out to identify and pick them. All then have Mark vet their collection before taking them home for consumption.
