HUNDREDS RALLY AGAINST NW NATURAL
The coalition of anti-LNG groups and hundreds of individuals held a hugely successful protest yesterday at the NW Natural Shareholders Meeting where more than 250 protesters gathered to demand that the company cancel the Palomar Pipeline!
Highlights of the Rally Included:
-Incredible attendance with 250 protesters of all ages and political backgrounds. Some traveled from as far away as Eugene, Corvallis, Astoria, Cathlamet (WA) and Longview (WA).
-Great songs from the Raging Grannies and wonderful speeches from activists, impacted community members and NW Natural shareholders.
-Beautiful flags representing the Salmon, Forests and Farms we are all working to protect from Palomar and LNG.
-A life-size pipeline puppet that helped to enact a skit in which activists protected "Oregon Values" against energy speculation.
-A spontaneous symbolic blockade of pipeline construction.
-The unveiling of a beautiful new art piece that represents the devastating impacts of LNG development and the public opposition and resistance to LNG across the globe thanks to the Justseeds Collective.
-An anti-LNG activist inside the Shareholders Meeting speaking out during the Q&A portion of the meeting to correct false statements by the company and demand accountability to ratepayers, shareholders, impacted landowners and environmental protections.
-Ruckus speeches by Representative Chuck Riley and Former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury.
