I recently decided to see for myself what the Forest Service is promoting as "restoration" logging in Mt. Hood National Forest. At my first stop I found the recently-cut stump of a 172-year-old tree, pictured below.
The Forest Service claims that the 2,000-acre Jazz Timber Sale is "restoration," just like the timber sale I visited.
Please click here to see more photos of "restoration" logging in Mt. Hood National Forest and then help us reach our $20,000 fundraising goal with a generous donation today.
Bark is prepared to expose the Forest Service's timber program for what it really is, but we need your support to do it.
Thank you,
Alex P. Brown, Executive Director
PS- If you missed our first Summer Campaign email, with details on the Jazz Timber Sale and why the Forest Service thinks removing 6,000 logging trucks of trees from the Clackamas River area is "restoration," then please take a look here.
