#Special message from Bark's volunteer Forest Watch Committee#
One of the best things about Bark is that it is the only group that actually collects field data on all proposed logging in Mt. Hood National Forest. As Bark's volunteer Forest Watch Committee, we are the "boots on the ground." We have spent hundreds of hours groundtruthing the proposed 2,000-acre Jazz Timber Sale and we know how bad it is.
We ask you to support Bark with a donation because when you do, it empowers a powerful network of volunteers (like us!) to protect Mt. Hood National Forest.
Bark's small staff does not have the time to survey 2,000 acres of proposed logging. That is why they provide Groundtruthing and NEPA 101 trainings.
Armed with this knowledge, we have spent weekends, holidays, and even taken time off of work to bring back data from the forest.
We know the Collawash River watershed better than the Forest Service, and we've witnessed how logging 6,000 log trucks-worth of trees will destroy this special place. Click here to see some of our photos of what the logging will look like.
Our volunteer efforts have already communicated to the Forest Service that the public is concerned about our forests. But if Bark does not have the financial support it needs, then its staff cannot use our data to challenge the Jazz Timber Sale.
When you donate to Bark, you support high-quality legal work and community organizing that turns our volunteer efforts into victories for Mt. Hood National Forest.
