Bark to sue over Mt. Hood old growth

The proposed Airstrip Timber Sale would result in the logging of old-growth trees in the lower Clackamas River Watershed and Bark is going to stop it.

Bark is going to file a lawsuit in federal court Thursday to keep these ancient trees standing. Please make a donation today to help Bark stop old-growth logging.

Our lawsuit will stop the Bureau of Land Management from circumventing environmental laws and trying to get away with logging the best wildlife habitat incidentally -- the trees just happen to be in the path of the new logging road it plans to build.

The BLM ignored our request to resolve the issue through dispute resolution, but thanks to the over 200 Bark supporters who contacted the BLM last week, we have been invited to take the BLM on a field trip to show them our concerns. Unfortunately this provides no guarantee that logging will not begin, so we are moving forward with our lawsuit.
 
As always Bark is keeping costs low, so our goal to cover our Airstrip Timber Sale groundtruthing program, filing fees and attorney's costs is only $5,000. Please help us meet our goal today!

PS- On Friday morning the long-awaited Jazz Timber Sale final decision was released, officially putting 2,000-acres of Mt. Hood National Forest in the pristine Collawash River Waterhsed on the chopping block. Bark will assess the 179-page document and provide details by the end of this week...
