Tattooing an Icon
Icon Tattoo raises big money for Bark
This past Sunday, Icon tattoo held an all-day event with all proceeds going to Bark's work defending Mt. Hood National Forest. Supporters picked from an array of images inspired from Oregon's iconic national forest; bird feathers, wildflowers, wildlife and, of course, the horizon of Mt. Hood -- all four faces!
Owner Melanie Nead approached Bark with the idea several months ago. Melanie has built a reputation in Portland's competitive tattooing community, filling her portfolio with exquisite renderings from the natural world. Knowing that protection of our remaining places is essential to her inspiration, Melanie wanted to help raise funds for Bark. She has been committed to ensuring that her growing small business give back to the issues that matter the most to her. In a challenging fundraising year for many social change organizations, Bark sees innovative and creative partnerships as integral to our success.
We are also extremely appreciative of the Icon staff who dedicated their Sunday to making the event such a success. Thank you Victoria Benedetti, Alena Chun, Clio Reese Sady, Niki Woltja, B Herlocker and the Icon apprentices!
